CONTEST 46/48 STANDARD DESCRIPTION AND EQUIPMENT
CONTEST 46/48 entirely built by Dutch shipyard CONYPLEX, in fiberglass reinforced polyester, according to Lloyd's specifications and standards (class +100 A).
CONSTRUCTION:
-
Hull and deck each molded in one piece in reinforced polyester alternating chopped strand mat and roving with balsa core. All materials used are of very high quality.
-
The hull and deck receive numerous fiberglass reinforcements, specially chosen to ensure maximum rigidity without excessive weight, and the balsa-polyester sandwich provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. Areas where hardware is mounted are solid polyester.
-
The deck is bolted to the hull then over-molded to perfect watertightness and create a true bondwith the hull, all protected by a solid teak toe rail with stainless steel trim.
-
Main bulkheads are laminated to both hull and deck. The assembly offers exceptional strength since each bulkhead contributes to the rigidity of the entire sailboat.
-
The deck is solid teak planks 12mm thick.
-
Colors: teak decks, white hull and cabin top, waterline and decoration line in blue polyurethane.
-
Ballast: optional fin keel, 6,200 kg, with 1.70m draft, cast iron bolted to hull, fitted with backing plates inside for each bolt to ensure perfect tightening of each nut. Then all bolts are over-molded with polyester and chopped strand mat to perfect watertightness. The keel is treated with two coats of zinc and two coats of polyurethane.
-
Rudder: mounted behind skeg with gudgeon, in fiberglass reinforced polyester and stainless steel fittings. The stainless steel rudder stock is reinforced by stainless steel plates welded to the assembly.
-
Large central cockpit, 2.20m long, self-draining with two drains. Sole and seats lined with solid teak planks. One storage locker. Lockers in coamings which are self-draining and teak-framed. Aft on deck, two large lockers, one self-draining for gas bottles.
